Library Shop

We are a partnership between the San Diego Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library. All proceeds benefit the San Diego Public Library system. We have a carefully curated selection of books, jewelry, children’s merchandise, gifts and art. We support local vendors and artisans whenever possible. Come down and check us out! We are located on the ground floor of the San Diego Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common, near the entrance.


Author Talk and Book Signing with Lisa See - Thursday, March 12, 6-8 pm
Join us in the Auditorium for an author talk and signing with Lisa See. Her most recent novel, China Dolls, will be available in the Library Shop as well as her backlist titles. Patrons who purchase their books in the Shop will be given signing priority.

Makers Arcade Craft Fair – Saturday, March 21, 11 am-5 pm
We will have a booth at the wildly popular Makers Arcade craft fair. Stop by and see us! This is an off-site event taking place at the North Park Post Office and will feature food, music, cocktails and booths from over 50 local makers. See the website for more details.

Library Shop Book Club Presents a Skype Visit with Lisa See- Saturday, March 28, 1 -2 pm
The Library Shop’s Book Club returns with a Skype visit with Lisa See in support of China Dolls. If you purchase a copy of the book at See’s signing, come back to join the discussion! Light refreshments will be served and signed bookplates will be available for people who purchase the book at the event.

Yoga + Art- Sunday, April 12, 11 am-Noon
Join us for our free April yoga class. Yoga takes place every second Sunday of the month before the Library opens in the beautiful garden patio just outside the Shop. Hale Holistic provides incredible yoga instructors and is great for all levels. Stay after the class for a tour of the art gallery’s latest exhibit [UN]BOUND.

Children’s Book Club – The One and Only Ivan- Tuesday, April 21, 4-5 pm
Join us and the children’s librarians as we co-host our children’s book club. Come discuss Katherine Applegate’s book, The One and Only Ivan and participate in crafts and activities related to the book. This is perfect for kids 8-12 years old. Books are available to check out in the children’s library and also for sale in the Library Shop at a 20% discount.
