City Council moves new Central Library forward
7-7-09
The San Diego City Council today voted 5-3 to move forward with the
next phase of the new Central Library program--incorporating a San Diego
Unified School District charter high school on the 6th and 7th floors of the
new building.
Several Council members, including Marti Emerald, said it's important for the city to have vision during difficult economic times. Other Council members and speakers at the meeting said the new Central Library would serve areas other than downtown.

The next step for the new Central will be putting the project out to bid. It is anticipated that this will happen later this fall. Library advocates will need to be active in advance of the Council vote to put the project out to bid. To receive emails with project updates, VISIT HERE.
