In an interview with author Marilyn Johnson, National Public Radio's On the Media detailed the enduring value of libraries and librarians. In the STORY, Johnson discusses her latest book This Book is Overdue: How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All.
She argues that even in the Goole age, librarians are still the best source for accurate answers. Johnson says libraries and librarians are more important than ever before. Johnson points out that librarians can find "hidden" resources that might not be available on the Internet. "It's an illusion that everything is digitized and at our finger tips."
USA Today also ran an interview with Johnson. "The middle class is squeezed and needs libraries more, information is multiplying at an alarming rate so we need librarians more, and the jobless are streaming to libraries in droves," Johnson said in USA Today.
The online magazine Salon also recently spoke with Johnson about her book. VISIT HERE for that story.
