7,000 enjoy free Children's Book Festival

The 2009 San Diego Children's Book Festival was a great success. More than 7,000 children and parents attended Saturday, May 9 to meet their favorite authors and celebrate all things literary.
The 2nd annual Children's Book Festival, presented by Target, featured presentations from some of the nation's top authors and illustrators and included games, music and performances for children of all ages. Participating authors and illustrators included:
- Gerald McDermott (2009 Poster Artist),
- DJ MacHale, author of Pendragron Series,
- Robin Preiss Glasser, and
- Sherman Alexie, National Book Award winner.
Thank you to Target, Biogen Idec, Cubic Corporation, the Friends of the San Diego Public Library, One Book One San Diego, Ralphs, Time Warner Cable and Westfield UTC for their support of the Festival, whose proceeds support the Library.
