    Art Glass Association of Southern California
    The Point Loma Library is proud to have an exhibit by the Art Glass Association of Southern California! The AGASC was founded in 1981 to educate the public about the glass arts.Today there are over 100 members mostly form the San Diego area.The glasswork features the techniques of glass fusing, blown glass ad lampworked glass.Also showing are the photographs of Graham Blair taken at the home of James Hubbell, who was a major inspiration to the early days of stained glass creation.

    Sumi-e Brush Painting Class
    Sumi-e is an Asian art form in which paintings from nature are depicted in black ink on white paper. The art form was introduced to Japan from China along with Zen Buddhisim in the 15th century. Instructor Takashi Ryuho Ijichi has studied sumi-e brush painting for 30 years and has been teaching in San Diego since 1991. Sponsored by the San Diego Community College Continuing Education Program.

    Retired Naval officer and graduate engineer Robert Brenner recently completed extensive research to identify and categorize all the supernatural and strange happenings recorded in the Bible. He found over 550 relevant verses. Combining duplicate references to events found in multiple books of the Bible, he synthesized the list of verses down to around 390. These were the basis for his book titled Supernatural & Strange Happenings in the Bible: An Engineer?s Study of Scripture.

    Hosted by Rose Thomas. Today we associate chocolate with romance and as a tasty treat. But the tale of chocolate is as varied and rich as its flavor. Rose shares the long and storied history from its roots in Latin America through its discovery by Columbus and its introduction to Europe and back again as the symbol of Valentine's Day. Rose will discuss both its medical and ceremonial roles throughout history and reveal some of the new discoveries highlighting chocolate's medical benefits.
