Most branch libraries have a Friends of the Library group that conducts booksales, raises funds and advocates for library programs. Visit here for more information on Friends book sales.

San Diego’s Library Friends groups have a 35-year history with 4,000 dedicated volunteers in 38 chapters. They are central to campaigns to build or renovate libraries—such as the Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Branch Library, North University Community Branch Library and the new Central Library. Since 1978, Friends groups have contributed more than $15 million to the library.

For additional information about the Friends of the San Diego Public Library, call Friends Executive Director Fran Pierce at (619) 542-1724 or by e-mail.

To find out more about the Friends group in your neighborhood, contact your Branch Library directly for information, or visit the Friends group’s website.
