Help with preparing for and applying to college

Radhiya Bryant credits the Library’s Admit One College Prep Academy with helping her get into UC Berkeley. Neither of Radhiya’s parents went to college. Now she is a computer science major at a major university. “It’s been a long journey to get to where I am,” said Bryant.

Admit One College Prep Academy is a great resource for high school students ready to embark on the college admission process. Approximately 80 percent of participants are first-generation college students and from low-income families.

The program guides high school students through the college admission process with test preparation practice and advice from college admission experts. More than 1,200 students have participated in Admit One College Prep Academy since it started in 2012.

Demand for the twice annual program is high and there often is a wait list for participants. Additional funding is needed to ensure all students who need this assistance are helped.
