Gifts Through Wills or Living Trusts
If you are working with your estate planning attorney to include a gift to the San Diego Public Library Foundation in your will or living trust, the following is sample wording you may use in your document:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the San Diego Public Library Foundation, tax ID #33-0959608, ____% of my estate to be used for its highest and best use. These funds should be used to enhance rather than replace City funds budgeted for library services.”
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the San Diego Public Library Foundation tax ID #33-0959608, ____% of my estate, to be used for the benefit of ______________ [e.g., Central Library, branch library, or specific purpose such as READ/San Diego or technology programs]. If at the time this gift is received, these funds cannot be so used they are to be used for the highest and best use of the San Diego Public Library Foundation. These funds should be used to enhance rather than replace City funds budgeted for library services.”
